“The traveller” panama hat with a leather band

It does not always have to be too formal, and this panama hat with a leather band proves it.

Don’t get me wrong — I like an elegant panama hat very much too, but there isn’t always an occasion for one.

What is good about this hat is that it doesn’t take itself too seriously, so you can wear it any day. (Unless it rains, of course.)

If you know panama hats, you will know why so many people are fond of them.

They are comfortable, they look good and they give excellent cover from the sun.

I am a happy customer of this type of hat myself: as a (former) redhead I still burn quickly in summer, unless I put on sunscreen or wear a hat.

Personally I prefer the latter — there is nothing more annoying than sunscreen half melting down your face while you sweat.

Now I apply it once (on my face) and wear a hat for the rest of the day. Believe me when I say I have never really burned since.

(Disclaimer: it is still advisable to use sunscreen and protect yourself properly — the sun is more dangerous than you think.)

 

Besides the Protection these hats are also pleasantly light. You won’t get the experience of a cheap tourist hat that turns hot the moment the sun hits it.

Because good panama hats still let tiny amounts of air through, they are breathability.

That matters in a good summer hat, so it does not get too warm to wear.

The fit of this hat can feel slightly larger than usual.

 

In short, a good hat if you want:

• A hat against the sun .
• A hat that does not get too warm .
• A hat that is pleasant to wear.
